Cape Town-Based Flash Rockers MARENE Unleashes New Single THE KING

From the moment MARENE burst onto the scene in 2017 they only had one goal in mind … to decisively deliver the best tunes in a way that leaves you feeling duly rocked live (and to date they have not disappointed)! With MARENE set to tear up the stages this March in Cape Town (RAMFEST) they are also getting ready to unleash their debut album, starting with the release of their new single THE KING on Friday 20 March 2020!

Frontman, Lead Vocalist and Rhythm Guitarist Tyler Duggan states that “THE KING was written in 2016 at a time when I needed to uplift my spirits. I wanted to write an anthem that can help people find the strength to empower themselves with the notion that they are the king of their own destiny and the master of their own reality!”. “THE KING is about living larger than life” adds Ozzey Padayachee (Bassist and Lead Vocalist). THE KING is a catchy fast-paced rock descant that quickly gets crown interactions going, whilst being fun to play. Keyboardist and Backing Vocalist Robin Proctor shares that “Playing The King is like moving from a gallop into a canter. It makes you wanna win!”

ABOUT MARENE

The 5 electric members (each with a distinct colour), set the standard for live entertainment unmatched by others:

Frontman, Lead Vocalist and Rhythm Guitarist Tyler Duggan (Purple) wanted to put together the band he never saw on stage, using choreography, effects and a passion for flare, to craft the ultimate production on stage.Bassist and Lead Vocalist Ozzey Padayachee (

Red) brought his vast musical background and larger-than-life stage persona to the band. Ozzey creeps around the stage with his thunderous bass making sure the audience not only hears his bass runs, but feels them run down their spines.Lead guitarist, Darragh Concannon (

Blue) ignites on stage as he shreds his explorer by harmonising riffs and filling out the sound. Darragh’s theatrical background shows as his sense for drama and action explode when he ignites his guitar during his solo.Without Robin Proctor (

Yellow), “the mother of the band”, how would we get our eyeliner on and off? But besides the very important eyeliner Robin provides the most spectacular backing vocals, hitting every high harmony known to man while also laying down the keyboard parts that fill in every gap.Shane Carew (

Green) might be behind the drumkit, but don’t let that fool you into thinking he won’t be heard. When the show starts, Shane doesn’t stop pounding until the final hit.
