South Africa’s national treasure Ard Matthews, from Just Jinjer fame, is a musician who needs no introduction. If you are a fan of Ard, or have liked his Facebook page, or even if you just happened to be on Facebook last week, you would have noticed that he did a concert on his roof top to help raise funds for nominated recipients. Ard said he would like the money raised to go to fellow musicians who need it during this trying time of lockdown; but he has said that he was also open to further charities to be nominated.

Let’s make the next one bigger and better. Standby for next performance time. Its all weather dependent cos of the rooftop location. Also, @quicket pls can u please endeavor to release the funds as quickly as possible each time as there are people who need it urgently. Thanks again everyone. See you Thursday or Friday. Pls post suggestions of covers and beneficiaries to consider. Peace ✌️

The first roof top concert was such a great success that Ard Matthews has decided to do another roof top concert and you are all welcome to view it online. This time around we hope it will be an even bigger success than before.

According to the event page on Facebook, at least 75% of proceeds raised (depending on final amount) will go to people in need as identified by nominees with the most ‘likes’ on ‘OFFICIAL BENEFICIARY’ post on Ard’s FB page. (Look for “pinned to top” post on the Facebook page)

Before this second concert has even taken off from the ground, R15,000 has been donated towards it.

Quicket South Africa have pledged to reduce the commission and service fee for Ard for this second concert.  So a huge shout out there as well. We are all doing our thing

The ‘Donate what you can’ link is live NOW and only closes on Monday 6th April, and you can donate by going HERE

ABOUT ARD MATTHEWS

Over the course of the last decade and a half, well-known singer and songwriter, Ard Matthews, has been honing his craft and moving people the world over. As the front man of South African band Just Jinjer, he led the way to the incredible success of their debut album All Comes Round, which achieved double platinum status in its first year. The follow-up album, Something For Now reached the same status a year later.
ARD has now moved on to focus on his solo career and writes and records all his original music from Empire Avenue Studios in Hout Bay, Cape Town. This high-tech studio is housed in the converted dungeon of a historic castle, which he recently bought and made his home.
His new solo album, Impossible Machines, features a string of melodic, yet edgy songs that clearly demonstrate how he has come into his own, both as a singer and a song-writer. A cross-genre offering, the album incorporates elements of Pop, Indie and Dance, while retaining the authentic voice and indelible lyrics for which he is known
The eponymously named first single from the album, Impossible Machines, was released on 11 May to much acclaim. A haunting and moving account of our dependency on gadgets and devices in this technologically-enhanced world, the track is reminiscent of U2 or Cold Play, with an uplifting message that has caught the attention of radio stations, fans and new listeners alike.
ARD plays all the instruments on the track – and the album – a true showcase for his versatility not only as a singer but also as a musician.
