Fanbase Music Magazine is saddened to announce that songwriter/bassist Adam Schlesinger of hit song “Stacey’s Mom” from Fountains of Wayne has passed away from the Corona Virus also known as Covid-19.

It was announced just a few days ago that Adam had been rushed to hospital while battling the virus.  Earlier this week, Adam’s lawyer Josh Grier said that he was heavily sedated and on a ventilator.  However, Josh has now confirmed the news of Adam’s passing.

Fountains of Wayne hit the scene in 1995. In 2003 the band’s arguably biggest hit, “Stacey’s mom” was released.  The song was nominated for two Grammy Awards, including Best New Artist and Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal for the song.

Adam Schlesinger was also a member of the groups Ivy and Tinted Windows; and was involved with film and television, notably writing the title track for the 1997 Tom Hanks film “That Thing You Do”.

Celebrities such as Tom Hanks, Ethan Embry, Rick Springfield, Jimmy Kimmel, Conan O’Brien and members of the band ‘Dashboard Confessional’, are among many other stars from the entertainment world who have all expressed their shock and sadness at the news.

Fanbase Music Magazine would like to send our condolences to Adam’s family, his friends, band members, fans and everyone who knew him.
