Johannesburg based pop-rock band, You, Me and the Harmony, have released yet another single following the releases of A Little More and Astronauts earlier this year. The band released Collide with a puppet show-esque lyric video, made by the bands guitarist and manager. You, Me and the Harmony have been on the up and up this year, releasing A Little More and its music video right before their performance supporting Crown The Empire for the Pretoria leg of their South African tour, and releasing two more singles with lyric videos from there. These releases seem to have come at a time where the South African music industry, as well as the rest of the world, find themselves looking for any glimmer of joy or positivity in the current Corona Virus pandemic. Where better to look than music?

Vocalist, Cait had some very deep feelings when writing the lyrics, and hopes that Collide can help people get through the dark times. She had the following to say, Most people have known or lived with an addict before, be it alcohol or drugs, and most people know how hard it is to deal with that, especially if it’s somebody you love or care for. I wrote Collide as a kind of back and forth between the perspective of a substance abuser (mostly from the perspective of the abuser) and somebody who loves that person and wants them to essentially live for something else, something better, and thus poses the question ‘Don’t you want to live for something?’. ‘I walk alone at night’ and ‘dancing with the devil’ in essence is them feeling alive because they would be headed to get their next fix, and being wrapped up in their specific poison. The lyrics can be interpreted however you like, but when writing them, this was what was going through my head after thinking about my personal experiences in dealing with a loved one who had a substance abuse problem.”

The band consists of Cait Forde (vocals), Carl Dos Santos (guitar), Brendon McCaig (bass) and Caleb Smith (drums). Formed in 2013, the band has played alongside some incredible acts, such as international bands Memphis May Fire, INTERVALS, Our Last Night, Hands Like Houses, and as mentioned previously, Crown The Empire! They have also supported some of South Africa’s top bands, including Francois Van Coke, AKING, Zebra & Giraffe and many more…
