If you’ve ever attended an Up The Creek or AfriSki festival before (or any of the other 62 performances they racked up in 2019), then The Toast would still just be an anomaly that could solely be experienced on stage. Until now, that is. Since their inception, The Toast have only been sharing their eccentric and unprecedented music through their live performances. The Capetonian outfit consists of frontmen Bheki Dladla and Nathan Rudnick who combine their clever rhyme schemes and deliver honest lyrics over killer RaRa beats, composed and produced by Nathan and their sound is reinforced with pulsating rhythms by drummer, Jarid Swart. Until now, they’ve relentlessly delivered explosive sets that drive audiences into natural states of ecstasy with the result of awakening inner hedonists, time and time again.
The trio’s digital debut, Slave to the RaRa, is the perfect introduction for millions of listeners globally to get their very first taste of The Toast. What the heck is RaRa, you ask? That is exactly what describes the sound you could expect from The Toast, who exist to make interesting combinations of Rap Rave aka RaRa, a highly addictive new genre of electronic music.
Because The Toast has only been best experienced live, an appropriate theme for a debut music video followed suit and thanks to invaluable contributions from content producer, Grant Lucas, Chase Michael who captured rare footage of The Toast performing at The Mercury led to the end result which can be enjoyed HERE
The world has been shaken by current pandemic circumstances and more than ever before, music is offering us much needed joy, escape and inspiration for our minds and souls. Slave to the RaRa is a song that lets you escape into the rhythm and contagious beat. Let the beat be the only thing you catch while we feast on the first of many new releases by this tenacious trio hailing from Cape Town. Now turn up the volume, raise a glass of the reserved stuff or self-made pineapple beer and give yourself a special cheers from The Toast.
