Moolman’s first track off his upcoming “The Great Marico Redemption” album details an unravelling consciousness in real time.
Jacques Moolman established himself as a vocal force to be reckoned with as the lead singer and guitarist of rock band Shadowclub, and after his first electro-pop spin off project Chambers was positively received in 2016, Moolman has again reinvented himself in 2020 as a blues-rooted crooner under his own name.

Moolman’s latest solo project has already seen him scoop an opening slot on Shakey Graves first SA tour. It has also seen him draw deep introspection and inspiration from his immediate surroundings to create something wholly different and distinct.

His first single “Into The Rain”, features Moolman’s trademark vocal twang and poignant storytelling abilities as we follow a heartbroken protagonist who’s looking for a redemptive, fresh start.

“It’s a heart wrenching break up ballad,” Moolman explains when questioned about the track’s insinuation. “When you care so much but you don’t want the other person to see you falling apart and you’re just losing your mind to the point where walking into the rain feels like the safest thing to do.”

A good indication of the type of anthems that make up The Great Marico Redemption, mixed by Brian Lucey (Green Day, Royal Blood, The Black Keys), “Into The Rain”, sees Moolman flex vocally and lyrically, conjuring up visceral visuals underpinned by wailing guitar riffs that blend folk, rock and blues.

Moolman’s new work offers up a break from reality and provides a kind of therapy for the mundanity of modern day life by pointing out the deeper facets of the human experience. This is a chance to reflect, experience and be present in the moment, something that’s sorely needed during these unstable times.
