Kerrigan La-Brooy Releases New Single ‘Democracy Hypocrisy’

Review Done By: Duzzy Clayton

In my line of work I get sent so much new music and I meet so many musicians from around the world; it’s seldom that you meet someone who not only is very talented, but is also a genuinely great guy. This is exactly how I would describe Sri Lankan-born singer and songwriter, Kerrigan La-Brooy, who now lives in Australia.

Before I get into his new track and talk about how awesome it is, there are some things I want to mention first: beyond Kerrigan being a great musician, he is also a pastor and head of a charity in Australia.

Having been in and out the music business for the past 30 years, Kerrigan has been hard at work and has just released his latest single called ‘Democracy Hypocrisy’.

Upon first listen of the track I could definitely hear a strong country sound to the song along with some cool pop sounds. Kerrigan’s voice on the track is very well done and he also adds fun to the song through different phrases and the pronunciation of certain words. The music to the song is just as good, with each instrument played to perfection; and the song itself really gets your feet tapping, making you want to dance or just sing along.

‘Democracy Hypocrisy’ was written during Lockdown and Kerrigan has decided to release the track now because the lyrics are timely; not only applying to what is happening in Australia but also relevant worldwide.

Although the track is about the pandemic and the vaccine, it is not about whether you have been vaxxed or not; but rather speaks more to Human rights and Freedom of choice. It’s about health and wellbeing. It’s about humanity, liberty and unity.

The song has already achieved remarkable success in its short existence: It has been nominated for numerous awards, and currently, at the time of writing this review, it has topped the charts all around the world, including #1 in Australia.

There is also a cool fun video of the song on YouTube where Kerrigan sings the song into a camera with cool backdrops appearing behind him, which include different country flags with each verse.

The song is very catchy and I guarantee after one listen of the song you will be singing the song in your head for the rest of the day.

Well done to Kerrigan on a great release and I look forward to seeing what else the future holds for this very vibrant and nice guy
