Single Track Review: The Cranberry Merchants-Radioactive

Reviewed By Duzzy Clayton

The latest single by the Cranberry Merchants is here!  The Rock Duo from Atlanta, GA in the USA is most known for their eclectic mix of music and fun videos.  Their songwriting has won two International Singer Songwriters (ISSA) Awards, three World Songwriting Awards (WSA), and numerous other recognitions from radio stations & independent music organisations from around the globe.

Each time the Cranberry Merchants come out with a new single, I am amazed at how far they have progressed from one track to the next; and once again the band has delivered, in my opinion, their best release yet. I know I always seem to say that when they release something new but their new track ‘Radioactive’ is definitely their best work to date.

In this new single the band have changed their sound a bit, making the song have a New Wave – Punk Rock kind of feel, yet somehow it still seems to have that Cranberry Merchants signature sound to it. Essentially the song is about a toxic relationship that a person might find just too hard to walk away from.

The Punkish sound, especially the intro of the song, to me is what makes the song; and having Dianne Moore’s vocals on top of that makes for yet another great track. Dianne’s partner and other half of the band, Steve Moore, also does well with his guitar sounds, finishing the song off brilliantly.

I have always been a fan of the band’s music; but what I want to point out and make mention of in this song, is that you can really hear how the band has grown. Taking nothing away from earlier releases that are great in their own right, Radioactive has taken the band to the next level; from the lyrics to the vocals, to the music and quality of recording. I feel the band has finally arrived in a new world and dimension and I think people should really take notice of this band.

I can see myself playing this song on full blast in a car while driving on a highway with a group of friends; almost like the Wayne’s World scene when they rock out to Queen. Also, as a radio DJ, I can’t wait to play this track on air and I predict that this track is going to do very well on both commercial radio stations as well as internet independent radio stations around the world. It just has that feel-good vibe and sound to it with pretty real lyrics.

I want to say ‘’well done’’ to Dianne and Steve on their new release and I also would like to wish them well for the new track; not that I think they are going to need my well wishes, because this track has the potential to do very well all on its own. To say I am excited for the band’s future is an understatement!

Song Lyrics

A physical attraction

Starts the chain reaction

He get pretty toxic

But damn if he don’t rock it

To my satisfaction

Radioactive, Radioactive

He gonna go ballistic

All out hedonistic

Once I start the countdown

Bracing for the meltdown

Downright masochistic

Radioactive, Radioactive

Ooooooh shock!

Mass is getting critical

Fallout could be mythical

We overload the core

He’s still wanting more

Disaster will be Biblical

Radioactive, Radioactive

What’s my fascination

With annihilation

Just the taste of his lips

Triggers the apocalypse

Pure infatuation

Radioactive, Radioactive

Radioactive

He’s so Radioactive

He’s so Radioactive

He’s so Radioactive
