Oceans of angels– Still on fire
Reviewed by Duzzy Clayton
WOW! we have some really great bands coming out of South Africa at the moment and one of those bands is Oceans of angels. The mastermind behind Oceans of angels is Sheldon Horvatic from Johannesburg South Africa. Hot on the heels of the success of their debut single ‘Shattered Soldier’, which did very well on the charts on Mix FM (south Africa), Banks Radio (Australia) and of course on various stations in UK and around the world, Oceans of angels is back with their new single, Still on Fire.
Still on Fire is a melodic beautiful number with beautiful vocals and lyrics and even better music put to the song. When I listen to the song, I immediately closed my eyes and was really taken by the vocals and beautiful journey I was taken on.
As always I try to compare the bands I review to someone else or bands to try give readers an understanding of what the band I’m reviewing sounds like, and for this one it was a bit harder because the band seems to have their own unique sound but if I was to try and compare them, somehow Coldplay comes to mind but with a little more edgier and slightly heavier music to the track. Another South African band that comes to mind when I listen to this track, is that of Gangs of Ballet (Remember them kids?) but like I mentioned earlier the band definitely has their own unique sound and shouldn’t really be pigeon holed or compare to another band. I would recommend you rather check out Oceans of Angels for yourself and make up your own mind. Just take in the sheer brilliance of the beautiful song writing and vocals of the track put together with some awesome music to accompany it.
As I write this review it is pretty late at night and doing that I discovered that this is a great time to listen to this track, when it is dark outside and very quiet and all you have is your own thoughts and a great song playing in the background.
I have a feeling that this song is going to do very well on the radio airwaves and in my opinion is going to achieve great success on commercial stations around the world.
Another impressive fact to mention this track was produced by legendary producer Matthew Fink who you might remember being part of the band Black Hotels and also played alongside Tailor now known as Anna Wolf. Matthew has also been part of Record Label Just Music and proving to be one of the best producers this country has produced as you will hear on this track.
I would like to congratulate Oceans of Angels on their sophomore single Still on Fire, Shattered Soldier was always going to be a tough track to follow but I think they have just managed to top that track with this new release.
