Questions
Hi Jordan, welcome to Fanbase Music Magazine. We’d love to hear how you got into music; could you tell us about your background and the beginning of your interest in music?
I was born in Croydon, Greater London and moved up and down the UK a few times before settling in London in 2014. This is where my musical interests really took off (in 2015) and I’ve been playing guitar and singing ever since.
You are a solo musician but also in a band; could you tell us about your band?
We’re a Rock band formed in 2019 that plays a number of covers; we write and perform our own material.
Could you speak about the pros and cons (if any) about being a solo musician versus performing in a band?
There are definitely some differences: When in a band it’s like a democracy; you have to accommodate everyone’s different personality and musical taste. However, as a solo artist I have full creative freedom; although, there is only so much you can do when performing solo, which is why I love the thrill (and the noise) of being in a band.
What genre of music would you classify as representing your sound?
It’s difficult to put me in one category; I’m more of a mix of genres. If I had to put genres to it I would say Rock/Pop/Country.
What bands did you grow up listening to?
Bring Me: The Horizon; A Day To Remember; and a lot of heavier bands. It’s only once I started playing music that I toned down and started listening to more Rock/Heavy Rock such as Royal Blood and Weezer, as opposed to Heavy Metal.
Ok, let’s talk about the new EP out 10 July 2022; what is the name of the EP?
The EP is called ‘Love Is Just The Tipping Point’.
How many songs are on the EP and where was it recorded?
The 3 songs on the EP were recorded at The Qube in London.
Who all worked on the EP?
I did, a few musician friends and the team at B Side Recording.
What was the inspiration behind the songs of this EP?
It’s a collection of different frames of mind, experiences that I’ve had and a love of music.
How long did it take to record the EP and did you find it a hard process?
It was recorded over a series of months; from initial concept to recording my parts; sitting down with the other musicians and then with the B Side Recording team. It’s definitely a challenge and it’s something that will drive me to write and release stronger songs.
You recently had your first EP launch, how did it go?
It was a great experience seeing everyone enjoy the event; and feeling the buzz of something you created being released into the world. I look forward to doing more!
Can you tell us a live experience of both you as a solo musician and also with your band?
I played a solo set at Croydon’s first Cro Cro Land Festival; this was an incredible achievement for me as it was a big festival, with the likes of Nova Twins playing.
With the band, we recently played at Croydon Food & Music Festival. Again, this was an amazing experience and we had a crowd of over 200 people watching and cheering for us.
Can you tell us where you will be gigging in the month of July and beyond?
16th July, solo – HMV, Crawley
23rd July, new band release – Soper Hall, Caterham
24th July, solo – Cryer Arts, Croydon
You once got to record at the legendary Abbey Road Studios; could you tell us what that experience was like for you?
Wow, what can I say? It was Abbey Road Studios! It still feels like a dream. So many incredible artists have recorded there; and now to be able to say that I have done that! Not many people can. It was one of those experiences that really set a milestone for me as an artist and solidified my desire to keep writing, recording and performing music.
