Fear Of Falling- Talks To Us About The Band, New Vocalist And New Single
Intro
Fear Of Falling is a South African Rock Super Group that has been on a roll the past 18 months, with no sign of easing their foot off the gas! Their highly anticipated 5th single called ‘All My Time’ was recently released on Friday 19 August. ‘All My Time’ is a song that reflects on the short duration we have available to live our lives to the fullest for a meaningful existence, within a world that is in a perpetual state of chaos.
‘All My Time’ is the first single by new vocalist Ross Harding, who joins the line-up with drummer Dale Schnettler, guitarist Lloyd Timcke and bassist Brendon McCaig. With this line-up, Fear Of Falling, begins to fulfil the full potential of this supergroup. The band can be seen maturing through its development, and Ross Harding could not have delivered a better performance on his first single with the band! Fear Of Falling has skilfully learnt and developed their sound, showing why they are on top of their game and the Rock Scene in Africa!
Fear Of Falling released their debut EP ‘Breaking Point’ in May 2021, and soon followed with their debut album ‘Turning Point’ in December 2021. Their singles have all been well received, featuring on global stations like Kerrang Radio, Wacken Radio and Heavy Radio. They achieved charting positions on the Independent UK Music Charts, Banks Radio Australia, Banger Music, and the MIX FM SA Top 40. The South African Rock Super Group has already released a commanding collective of rock and alternative tracks, set to catapult this talented quartet to the biggest rock band in South Africa.
Questions
Hi guys, welcome to Fanbase Music Magazine, how has the process been so far of settling in with your new lead vocalist (Ross Harding)?
It’s been great, Ross has fitted in perfectly, and it’s come at the right time where we were starting to write new music, so Ross has had an effect on the sound and been able to bring some of his energy, creativity and ideas to the band – so yeah, he has settled in really well and has become a brother in a short period of time!
Who is some of the band’s main influences?
We take influence from all types of bands, from Seether, Breaking Benjamin, Creed, Audioslave, Foo Fighters – as well as outside of those and that genre such as the blues
Let’s talk about your new track ‘All My time’; I must first of congratulate you on it, I think it is a great song! Can you tell us how that song came about and what is the meaning behind the song?
We started working on the track a while ago – we wanted to create something that was cinematic in nature – that had some highs and lows and a very different middle 8th.
The lyrics behind the track reflects on the short duration we have to live out our fullest lives, our most meaningful existence, within a world that is in a perpetual state of chaos.
Where was ‘All My Time’ recorded, and who worked on the track, did you guys get a producer in?
We are lucky enough to have Dale Schnettler in the band, playing drums for us – he has a well knows studio, Studio 37b. The track was recorded in the studio, and produced by Dale Schnettler
How would you say ‘All My Time’ is different and/or progressed from your first album ‘Turning Point’?
I think the band is maturing in its sound, and with the advent of Ross Harding as our frontman. We are wanting to continue to mature in sound and produce tracks and albums that reflect that
Do you think you will release another album in the future, or are you going to be releasing several singles first?
Yes – to both. We have a few singles planned in the comings weeks and have a album planned to be out by the end of the year
Please share what a live experience of Fear of Falling is like, what can we expect attending a live show?
A lot of energy! We have been lucky enough to enjoy some success and generally play to large, energetic crowds. We spend a lot of time on our live shows, and the production elements to make sure we put on a great show that people enjoy
After a show, what is it you hope the audience walks away with after watching you perform live?
I think the fact that they have seen a major show – a big production and have had a great night out! We also pride ourselves on the professionalism, and hopefully that comes across after a show and people enjoy it
Where can we expect to see you play live, do you have any upcoming gigs?
Yes – we have a few big shows planned. 2nd September at Bailey’s live, then we are playing a large festival, MixFest, on 10 September – a few others planned towards the end of the year as well which should be good
Do you have any last messages for your fans and our readers?
Just to thank everyone for their support and well wishes – the support is always appreciated, and we just wouldn’t be able to do what we do without that support and the assistance that we get form everyone within the industry
