Enjoy the read.

Questions

 Hi guys, welcome to Fanbase Music Magazine! Before we get to know your band a bit better, how are you all doing with Covid; has the band and have your families been safe?

Luckily we’re all doing well thank you! Hope you’re all good too.

Did you do the whole online-streaming-gigs thing that seemed to take off when we were on lockdown and weren’t allowed to do venue gigs and live performances? What are your thoughts on online gigging?

Yes, we did an online stream in 2020 – we’re not big fans of it because it takes away from our performance a little. Sure, there can be people watching you online, but it’s not the same as performing directly in front of people and that’s what really fuels us.

How long have you been going as a band?

It’s 6 going on 7 years now.

Can you tell us a bit about each band member and what each member does in the band?

Jethro – plays the fool;

Timothy – plays the father;

Werner – plays the fiddle.

What is the story behind the band name The Tazers; how did it come about?

We wanted to make more electrifying music and the name just followed suit.

For readers who don’t know the genre of your band yet, how would you describe your sound?

70’s Psych Rock

What other bands and music influences had an impact on your band members and on the band itself?

Ty Segall, Demob Happy, The Oh Sees, King Gizzard, Arctic Monkeys, Fuzz, All Them Witches and Celine Dion.

You are a part of the Jim Beam Welcome Sessions; firstly, can you explain what the Jim Beam Welcome Sessions are, and how did you become a part of it all?

It’s a series of events that showcase unique South African talent, with a varied line-up for each show at multiple venues; which keeps it fresh and interesting. It’s been a privilege playing at these shows and we can’t wait for the next one.

Where can people get tickets to attend one of the shows?

People can follow this link for Jim Beam Welcome Session’s upcoming events on Quicket. We will be playing at Sowaar Bar on the 7th of October. Get your tickets on Quicket.

Your track ‘Love Machine’ has just recently hit 1 Million streams on Spotify; well done on that! How does it feel that your music is reaching so many people around the world?

It’s really an incredible achievement and we’re super grateful for it – but as far as streams and revenue go, it’s really just a drop in the ocean. We’d love to see all our tracks hit 1 million and more.

Where can people get hold of your music? How many albums or tracks do you have out?

Our full music catalogue is available on all the streaming platforms. So far, we have 4 EP’s and a full album out – but we’re working on new material as we speak.

Do you have new music in the pipeline that we should look out for?

We’re always working on new material – keep an eye on our socials for future updates.

When you are writing music, can you describe the process; do you do the lyrics first and build a song around that or do you come up with the instrumentals’ music first?

That’s a classified secret.

Can you explain a typical band-room practice to us?

Sitting around answering interview questions. Sometimes we play music together 😉

You recently got to do a European tour; where all did you get to play and how was the whole experience?

It was incredible! We played in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, France and The Netherlands.
We love Europe and we can’t wait to go back.

How does playing abroad and playing in South Africa compare?

It doesn’t ha-ha! They really take care of their artists overseas – from the hospitality to the sound and everything in between. Europe is just on another level.

For readers who haven’t seen you play live yet, can you explain what a The Tazers gig is like?

Lots of hair and Rock and Roll. Full of mosh pits and daydreamers!

Can you give us your social media please?

@thetazers – everywhere

Thank you for doing this interview. Do you have any last message for our readers and your fans?

Thanks for reading! Go stream our new EP ‘Outer Space’. We hope to see you at the next Jim Beam Welcome Sessions 🙂
