Two Nails In A Coffin-In The Night
Reviewed by Duzzy Clayton
Before I start this review I would like to tell you how I came to know about two musicians who make up the band Two Nails in A Coffin and how I have a really small part in their meeting for the first time
Back in the day when I had my first radio show on SME Fusion Radio, we had a chat room where listeners and like-minded musicians would come onto chat. My goal back then was to create a community amongst listeners and musicians who send in their music to the show to be played. This concept worked very well and became quite popular with people from all walks of life chatting and supporting each other’s work
Two particular musicians would send me their various band music and join me in the chat room, I am speaking no other than Joe Brady from Scanner and Jukka Ruottinen from such bands as Bom Lulu, Psycho Season, and Deadglow to name a few

Well fast forward a few years and Joe and Jukka have teamed up to form the band I am going to be telling you about today, Two Nails In A Coffin
Two Nails in A Coffin is made up of Joe Sirborg and Jukka Ruottinen, the cool thing about this project and how far we have come with technology is that they are in different countries (Joe USA and Jukka Finland), and they were still getting together online and put a great song together namely ‘In the Night’ under the band name Two Nails In A Coffin
‘In The Night’ in my opinion is one of the best songs out at the moment, it has a perfect great mixture of punk and grunge and good old Rock N roll, genres that if you know anything about Jukka and Joe’s other bands, this song shows off the influences and what each musician brings into the song and this band
One thing I like about ‘In The Night’ is how well the arrangements is put together, each guitar sound, each vocal line, each bass line, and drum part is so well put together and it still blows my mind that a song with such great quality can be put together with people in different continents
‘In The Night has a very cool music video to go with the song and I must say I was blown away by the video, it starts with Jukka and Joe faces side by side as they sing the lyrics of the song, now and again throwing away to a shot of instruments being played and then back to their faces in blue side by side, the song itself is very fast pace and the video accompanies that awesomely, You can watch the video below
This is not the first time these two musicians have worked together, in the past Jukka Ruottinen has covered one of Scanner’s tracks namely ‘It’s a War’ which Scanner added that version to their latest album called Open the Gates
When I listen to the track I can picture myself listening to this at a cool house rock party or as I am about to go out and I need some good music to get me in the mood for a great night out
I asked both musicians personally how it is to working with each other and what can they tell us about Two Nails in A coffin and they both had this to say:
Joe says: “It has been a pleasure getting to know and work with Jukka! He ‘gets it’ and has a feel for all genres of music I love working in – punk, metal, and 80s new wave.”
Jukka had this to say: “I am very honored and it’s a dream come true to work with Joe. He’s got style, ambition, and attitude in what he does, I have never heard a bad Scanner track. The demo of the song “In the night” by Joe was so good that I heard immediately that if we worked together it was going to be great. Working was easy and fast and the song is as good as I hoped it would be. “
In Conclusion, I would like to end this review that I am very happy and impressed with what Joe and Jukka have been able to accomplish with this debut track and whatever you take away from this song, whether it makes you want to rock out or just sit back and relax while you enjoy the music, just knows music knows no boundaries, music knows no different cultures or countries if two friends have passion and want to make music together and if the stars align, not even the big bad sea can stop it and to me, I think that is amazing and special

Lyrics
In the night
I feel them so close
In the night They stand within a breath
Walk through the darkness
of the path Dilation gathers nothing
from the black
I don’t want to know what’s out there in the night!
In the night
Alone and so small
In the night One within the void
Walk through the darkness
of the path Dilation
gathers nothing from the black
I don’t want to know what’s out there in the night!
In the night
I feel them so close
In the night They stand within a breath
Walk through the darkness
of the path Dilation
gathers nothing from the black
I don’t want to know what’s out there
in the night!
In the night! In the night!
