One of today’s most essential singer/songwriters Baby Rose announces her highly anticipated sophomore album, Through and Through, which is slated for release on April 28 via Secretly and is available for pre-order now. In celebration, Rose shares the first tracks from the album and her most explosive songs to date, “I Won’t Tell” featuring Smino, and an electrifying visual to match, along with the smoldering new song “Paranoid,” at the end of the film. The insatiable tracks capture the daring essence of Through and Through, a dynamic body of work that is rooted in bold authenticity and Rose’s newly found sense of self. Directed by Audrey Ellis Fox, the visual chronicles an opulent heist gone wrong with Rose stepping fully into her own as a thrilling new actress.
Through and Through will show Rose like we have never seen or heard her before. Sonically, the album see’s Rose carving out a lane for herself that is unrestricted by genres and showcases her extraordinary range as a skilled singer, songwriter and executive producer. Paired with her once-in-a-lifetime voice, Through and Through will undeniably exist like nothing else in music right now.
Baby Rose is undeniably a once-in-a-lifetime artist. She burst onto the scene with her 2019 debut project, To Myself, which has amassed over 25 million global streams to date and landed her early co-signs by SZA, J. Cole, James Blake, Kehlani, and LeBron James. The project received large critical acclaim from The New York Times, Pitchfork, Pigeons & Planes, VOGUE, NPR, Rolling Stone, Billboard, Complex, Hypebeast, VICE, NME, Harper’s Bazaar, ELLE, and many more. It was followed by a mesmerizing NPR Tiny Desk performance for the books, a sold-out headlining worldwide tour and major placements on HBO’s ‘Insecure’ and Kenya Barris’ award-winning ‘Grownish’. Later the singer received a GRAMMY nomination for her contribution to Dreamville’s Revenge of the Dreamers III album and was also featured on albums from Big KRIT and Matt Martians. She also opened for Ari Lennox and Snoh Aalegra on their celebrated 2019 tours. In late 2020, Baby Rose made her late-night TV debut with an arresting performance of her breakout song “Show You” on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
BABY ROSE ON “I WON’T TELL” FEAT. SMINO:
“I Won’t Tell’ is a fun record that came out of a sleepless night in LA jamming with friends. It was 4 AM when we started on it and with our inhibitions gone, a magic surfaced that allowed us to just flow. When I began to write it out, I wanted to embrace my own chaos, my shadows. Then Smino slid into it effortlessly and that’s just what this song is, effortless. He’s one of my favorite artists because he’s authentically him and you can’t pin him down to any box.”
