Sometimes I really love my job because I get to hear new music first and then get to share it with the rest of the world
There is such great new music coming out at the moment and the musician I am going to introduce you to today is one of those musicians who is releasing his brand new song Damwal, that in my opinion is amazing.

Damwal, is a well-written and performed rock Afrikaans song, that is set to take the world by storm, I don’t know much about Afrikaans music and have always been ignorant when it comes to Afrikaans music thinking your typical Afrikaans track is Loslaapie from Kurt  Darren, and although Kurt Darren is a big name and has a huge following, it was just something I could never get into.

But I was once told by an Afrikaans singer that Afrikaans isn’t a genre of music, it is a language that a singer is singing in, and that made me think, you know what, that is so right, there is so much more than Loslappie and if you open your mind and dig deeper, there is so much great rock Afrikaans music out there, FokofPolisiekar, Spoegwolf, etc come to mind, and now I can add Andre Visagie with his latest single Damwal, to that list.

I was blown away by Andre’s vocals on this track, from the first note that he sings along with the cool guitar riffs and banging drums, I am immediately hit with a full force of awesome music.  After just one listen to the track, I found myself singing the lyrics in my head, which to me is always a good indication if a song is good, if its rocking enough to make an impact but also catchy enough that the listener is going to remember it or if it’s just going to be a one-hit wonder, that isn’t very memorable, I can safely say Damwal, is the total opposite and is in a memorable track and I will be surprised if people who listen to it for the first time, won’t be an instant fan or be singing this track in their head in the shower or while cooking supper.

What is equally impressive about Andre Visagie, he plays guitar, drums, bass, and piano and also produces his own music, a skill that not all musicians can do but this just shows the huge talent Andre actually has.

Damwal, comes with an equally great shot video which can be viewed HERE or below. I have also loved the track and video so much that I have made the video, video of the week for Fanbase Music Magazine.

When I thought to myself where and when can I find myself listening to this track, my conclusion was, Right what I am doing now, doing my work, catching up on emails, and writing articles, this song is perfect for rocking background noise while you are hard at work but want to play some air guitar/drums at the same time, I must confess I have done that a few times while the song was playing
I would like to congratulate Andre Visagie on a really awesome well written and produced track  and I am sure this track is going to do well all across South Africa.

Damwal, is officially released today and can be found on all online streaming platforms

Lyrics ‘Damwal’ by Andre Visagie

Ry op die reën, ry op die, ry op die reën

Bring jou skade

Dames en here

Ek sal jou beskerm
Dis my belofte aan jou
