Single Review: Jackson Colt- Strangers

Reviewed by Duzzy Clayton

Jackson Colt and his band is a project I have not heard of but since I have heard their latest track ‘Strangers’ I am quickly becoming a huge fan. Produced by Dale Schnettler of Prime Circle fame, Jackson Colt and the track ‘Strangers’ is bringing back 80’s hair metal, or at least that is first what comes to mind upon first listen of the track.

‘Strangers’ is your typical Good Ol Rock Song with great lyrics, vocals and instruments being played, There isn’t much I can fault on the track, all I can say is if you a fan of 80s rock and metal then you will be pleasantly surprised, if you perhaps not a fan of the 80’s era, this modern band might just change your mind as they perfect the era and genre

Jackson Colt’s vocals are top notch and on point and I really cant believe it has taken me this long to know of this unique musician but I am really glad I have discovered him and his band.

As mentioned before Dale Schnettler produced the track, best known as the drummer for Prime Circle, ‘Strangers’ just proves that Dale is a man of many talents as you can defiantly hear his influences on the track and what he has bought to the table as a producer.

‘Strangers’ will always be the mastermind and vision of Jackson Colt and his band but sometimes it helps to have a very good producer to help give it that extra Oomph and that is exactly what Dale does on the track, I would be interested to see other songs Dale works on because I think he really has a bright future as a producer

I can picture myself listening to this track when I am in the mood to just rock out and want to practice my air guitar skills, speaking of guitar though, air guitar was defiantly not used for this track because the riffs and solos that have come out of this track are mind blowing, as well as all the other instruments being used

When asked what the song is about Jackson Colt, had this to say, Strangers is about the idea of Twin Flames. Two souls who spend there lives searching for each other. In the story, both souls are lost in darkness which represents past trauma and pain. Their “Twin Flames” are the only light within the darkness which leads them towards each other.” A topic Jackson and myself go into quite a lot of detail on when I got to interview him for my podcast which could be heard HERE

One thing I would really like to compliment on the track is the production of the recording, you can hear this was professionally done and it make me so happy that South African bands, musicians and producers are coming out with such talent and great work

I would like to congratulate everyone who has worked on this track, I started this review off saying, I didn’t know who Jackson Colt was before, but after the impact of this one single track, I am now a fan and listening and cannot wait to see what they come out with next

‘Strangers’ will be released on all online streaming platforms on Friday 24th March 2023
