Charlotte French- Say My Name
Reviewed by Duzzy Clayton
Everyone now and again I come across an artist that I am just in awe of, a new musician that lands up in my email, and Charlotte French is one of those musicians.
Hot off the heels of the release of her new single namely ‘Say My Name’ Charlotte is set to take the world by storm.
‘Say My Name’ starts off nice and slow and very chilled but then builds up to a complete banger of a track. Charlotte’s voice has one of those awesome pop angelei8c voices that you think to yourself this could work in any kind of genre.
This track has everything a pop dance track needs, great vocals and songwriting, great music that you can actually dance to, and a catchy chorus that will make you want to sing along in your air or even in the shower.
When asked what the actual song is about, Charlotte had this to say about it: ‘ Say My Name is a personal song and is inspired by a breakup. The song signifies coming through the other side of a breakup and no longer being close with someone you spent a lot of time with.”
So although the meaning behind the song can be found to be quite sad or something we will dread to do, like breaking up with our significant other and having to look back at fond memories that are fantasies, then also, in my opinion, speaks of empowerment and coming out the other side stronger.
Say My Name was recorded at the awesome Bside studios in London. It. Produced by Hollie Beadell who together with her Team and BSide Recording is proving to be a label and force to be reckoned with.
Say My Name is a single on Charotte’s new EP called Walking Free and you know soon as I get hold of the EP, I will be cranking it up to full volume and reviewing the EP too, Watch This Space
