A little more about the artists
Nomadic Orchestra:
“We are Nomadic Orchestra! We play brass music, we play dance music, we play intelligent music, and we play dumb music. We play whatever music we want to play and that’s okay because you come anyway.”
This motley crew of music nerds, fondly referred to as “The Nomads,” hail from the South African College of Music (UCT) in Cape Town and all have a deep passion for music performance and composition. The music keeps dance and groove at the centre of its inspiration and borrows from many different styles. Hip hop, afrobeat, ghoema, samba, ska, klezmer and various other sounds are blended into one cohesive, high-energy performance.
The primary goal of The Nomads is to get people moving. The band plays an infectious kind of high-energy dance music guaranteed to get feet tapping and limbs swaying. With three full-length studio albums, many successful tours, festivals and events on their resume, the band strives to create top-quality original music for all.
The band has been fortunate enough to play on some of the biggest stages in South Africa but have also done some touring in Europe and other African countries. We have shared stages with many local and international acts including, but not limited to, Gogol Bordello, Balkan Beat Box, Boom Pam, Freshly Ground, Majozi, Matthew Mole, Beatenberg, Jeremy Loops and many more.
Zebra:
“Is it black with white stripes? Is it white with black stripes? Nobody cares, it’s just a Zebra!”
Formed in 2017 Zebra is a Pretoria based band whose aim is to spread Ubuntu and unity throughout South Africa. With eight characters from different backgrounds, we pride ourselves on our diversity and ability to play for any crowd. We like to call our live shows an experience and we like to call that experience “Pub Theater”. With a storyline and jokes through the entire set, we aim to have the audience to experience a worry-free 45 minutes.
With South Africa’s tension often on high, we love to show that South Africans and the rest of the world can all get along, provided we understand each other and treat one another with respect and compassion, all whilst having a laugh.
Our inspirations are countless.
Our mission is to the point.
Our love for each other cannot be described.
And our will to succeed in our mission is never ending.
Brogan the Band:
What started as a way to express Brogan’s personal struggles has turned into a band of artists capable of taking his childhood love for pop punk into the future and stages across South Africa.
Having recently released a collab EP with South Africa’s only virtual artist Yungbeathoven and had 3 songs on the PUKfm top 10 as well as being featured on top curated playlists
like “SA ROCK ESSENTIALS” gaining over 42 thousand streams on Spotify.
“PITY PARTY taps into the genre’s best tropes to create the familiarity of early 2000’s teen angst while keeping itself firmly in the present day.”
– texx and the city
Face Jackson:
Face Jackson is one of Cape Town’s freshest emerging bands on the scene. Blending Rock, Funk, Reggae and Hip-Hop together – your ears have never been pleasured in such an unexpected way. They’ve been likened to bands like Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rage Against The Machine, Sublime and have consistently been praised for their High Energy performances and crowd interactions. “Face Jackson’s infectious energy can make dancers of the dead… There’s something to be said of the band’s crowd work, which makes their performances feel like a shared experience, not just a stage act.” – JL Browning, Let’s Get Local
