Among the standout collaborations on “LAYERS: Layer Three,” fans can look forward to Carla Franco’s partnership with Leo Burg on “BYGONES,” a song that originated from Leo’s own album. Carla Franco also joined forces with Lungelo Moyo, whom she met at a local live music bar in Pretoria, for the soulful “THE WALL.” Sebastian, the rhythmic guitarist for Carla’s band, co-created “ADULTS,” a song born out of a spontaneous idea during a rehearsal. Pala Chrome, a longstanding collaborator and producer for Carla’s work, teamed up with her under their artist alias for the mesmerizing “UNO.”
“LAYERS is a statement beyond my own music; it’s a question to the industry at large: why aren’t we focusing on more local artists?” Carla Franco passionately asks. “LAYERS is truly a collaborative project that makes me proud to be a musician and proud to be South African.”
