BARRY & CARR

New Single & Video

“Without You”

Los Angeles, CA. – Christopher Barry and Gene Carr, both working in real estate, are also singer-song writers out of Charlottesville, VA. They have been best friends for 30 years and joined forces musically just five years ago and have a new single and video, “Without You” dropping February 16, 2024.

Barry says, “The song, “Without You”, is a testament to having a failed relationship with a woman who walked away from everything. In the aftermath, you realize that you literally don’t want to go on without her. The song demonstrates the ups and downs of such a scenario, and ultimately is a plea for the loved one to return. The song is not about one particular woman, but expresses the searing pain of rejection and loneliness.”

The writing is a team effort with both Barry & Carr contributing equally in their own way. The song emanates from a finger picking pattern that Christopher Barry captures that creates a “trance like” feeling. From there, he adds words and a melody for the lyrics. Gene Carr sings the powerful lyrics, all while adding his own input with melodic rolls and ad-libbed, heart-felt lyrics. Their chemistry is undeniable, while they record their parts live and in one take.

Barry & Carr enjoy playing together any chance they get. “We have a lot of fun together and it’s an amazing creative release for both of us. We hope people who hear us can relate to the energy conveyed, the lyrics, the feeling that vibe we generate,” says Barry.

While the two are influenced by some of the great artists from the 60s, 70s and 80s including Michael Jackson, Journey, Ambrosia, England Dan & John Ford Coley, Hall & Oats and The Manhattan’s, they definitely have their own, unique sound.

Barry & Carr are always writing and recording new music and continue to do so. They enjoy it immensely and make each song better and better.
