Multi-platinum South African singer-songwriter Nianell embarks on the next chapter of her musical odyssey with the release of “Rise Up,” a powerful duet featuring fellow South African sensation Craig Hinds. This collaboration marks a significant milestone in Nianell’s journey, as she continues to captivate audiences with her timeless voice and soul-stirring melodies.
Two years ago, Nianell signed a world publishing deal with the prestigious Fairwood Music in the UK, signalling a transformative phase in her career. Inspired by the rich history of Fairwood Music, which represents iconic artists like David Bowie, U2, and Bob Marley, Nianell’s creative vision soared to new heights.
The serendipitous connection between Nianell and Grammy-nominated songwriter Billie Lawrie, facilitated by Francis Pettican, sparked the creation of “Rise Up.” Drawing on Lawrie’s extensive experience with artists such as Tina Turner, Lionel Richie, Belinda Carlisle, the collaboration resulted in a musical masterpiece imbued with a message of unity and resilience.
In a moment of synchronicity, Nianell received an email from Craig Hinds, proposing a re-recording of their duet “Too Close To Call” from the animation “Jock of the Bushveld.” Recognizing the divine intervention at play, Nianell suggested “Rise Up” as a fresh opportunity for collaboration. Moved by the song’s message, Craig Hinds enthusiastically joined forces with Nianell to create a captivating piece of music, produced by Mauritz Lotz.
“Rise Up” transcends mere musical collaboration; it symbolizes the magic of love and unity, empowering listeners to overcome life’s obstacles. This exceptional duet serves as a prelude to Nianell’s highly anticipated EP, “Love is Home,” scheduled for release on Saturday, March 30th.
