Ziggy Alberts releases new single ‘New Love’

Independent singer-songwriter and APRA award winner, Ziggy Alberts, has today unveiled his latest single ‘New Love’, signalling a fresh chapter in his ever-evolving artistic journey.
Following the resounding success of 2023 REWIND World Tour, this latest musical offering beckons listeners into Ziggy’s realm of bright acoustic guitar and banjo melodies, ‘heartbeat’ rhythm, and uplifting vocal harmonies. Co-produced by Garrett Kato, ‘New Love’ is reminiscent of the captivating soundscapes found within Ziggy Alberts’ ARIA Gold Certified album, ‘Laps Around The Sun’.

With his growing global fanbase captivated by Ziggy’s musical ability to write infectiously upbeat, indie-folk acoustic songs exploring universal themes introspection, love, sadness and hope, ‘New Love’ invites fans old and new to make space for new adventures and new love in all of its forms.

Drawing inspiration from personal experiences and love of creating music designed for live performance, Ziggy tells a story of trading innocence for experience and embracing trials and newfound triumphs. Through his signature environmental metaphors, he encourages listeners to embark on a journey of loving self-reflection and embrace the joy of being present.

Ziggy explains “I wrote ‘New Love’ in the middle of the UK leg of my 2023 REWIND World Tour. It was a song that was a reflection of where I was at, in that moment of writing.
“To me, ‘New Love’ is more than just a song. It marks the beginning of a new chapter in my personal life. It encapsulates the essence of my artistic journey, channelling the lessons learned over the last decade, into a celebration of simplicity and joy; and being present,” he said.
Fans and new listeners will notice the melodic, upbeat nature of this song which was inspired by Ziggy’s origins of busking on the streets in Byron Bay (Australia) and the passion for bringing those captivating, intimate live performances to much larger venues and audiences across the globe.

With the release of his new single, ‘New Love’, Ziggy Alberts continues to solidify his position as an independent recording and touring solo artist to be reckoned with. The new release serves as a beacon of hope, reminding listeners to cherish life’s simple moments and embrace the beauty of their own unique journeys.
‘New Love’ is a nod to another year of extensive touring worldwide and is the latest studio release since his hugely popular 2022 album ‘DANCING IN THE DARK’. His previous album, ‘searching for freedom’, landed #1 on the AIR Album Chart (Independent Labels) and #5 on the ARIA Top 20 Australian Albums chart in the first week of release. ‘searching for freedom’ has received praise from the likes of American Songwriter, Atwood Magazine and Rolling Stone France.
In May 2022 Ziggy added APRA award winner to his notable list of achievements, including his ARIA Accredited repertoire including 6 Gold Singles, 1 Gold Album, 7 Platinum Singles, 1 Double Platinum single and 1 Platinum EP.

“Ziggy Alberts is an Aussie troubadour, songwriter and poet. His visceral lyrics tell deeply personal stories of life, love, the human condition, and the cultural complexities we navigate – while his catchy acoustics deliver each message with the sort of indie-folk simplicity that sticks,”  Skye Mallac, Texx and the City

“Folk-hewn but modern-facing, his work sits alongside those early Ben Howard cuts or even Jack Johnson, that kind of slick but still endearingly earnest musicality.”  Clash, UK

“Alberts has proven time and again that his back-to-basics approach to production and songwriting has left him one of the most reliably authentic artists on the scene.”– Pop Wrapped, US
“For fans who’ve been following Ziggy’s career from day dot, his increasing popularity wouldn’t come as a shock. To everyone else, the Ziggy story is probably still something of a surprise. He’s a self-made success, and it’s a grassroots swell plenty of people are getting behind” – Triple J
