Acclaimed South African musician and artist Arno Carstens is set to release his anticipated new Afrikaans EP, “Sewe Sakke Hoop”, on June 7, 2024.

Known for his dynamic and evocative music, Carstens continues to forge a deep connection with his roots through his profound lyrical narratives and the emotive power of the Afrikaans language. His first Afrikaans album “Die Aandblom 13” that was released in 2016, was met with critical acclaim, connecting deeply with fans through its honest narratives and cultural introspection. Continuing in this vein, “Sewe Sakke Hoop” deepens the exploration of his musical and linguistic heritage, promising to resonate with listeners old and new.

Hoe Gaan Dit,” the first single from the new EP, has already seen significant success, receiving widespread airplay and accruing impressive views on YouTube. Its poignant themes and melodic depth have set a high bar for the upcoming album.

The second single “Nagblind,”set for release alongside the album on June 7, explores the complexities of perception and the human tendency to remain hopeful against odds.

In “Sewe Sakke Hoop,” each track explores the multifaceted themes of hope, resilience, and the nuances of human relationships. From grappling with the emotional impact of loved ones departing in “Hoe Gaan Dit” to exploring the illusions and realities we face in “Nagblind,” each song delves into deep personal and collective experiences. The album also touches on themes of enduring companionship, the cyclical nature of life’s challenges, and the urgency of seizing the moment in narratives that blend poignancy with philosophical reflections. These stories, woven through the melodic and lyrical fabric of the album, invite listeners to reflect on their own lives and find solace in shared human conditions.

Arno Carstens shares his thoughts on the album: “‘Sewe Sakke Hoop’ is born from a tumultuous backdrop of global and local changes. It’s a beacon of solidarity, reminding us that amidst the cacophony, hope remains the universal language that offers solace and understanding.”

The EP was produced and mixed in collaboration with notable musicians Theo Crous, Fred Den Hartog and Dane Taylor. The EP promises a rich sonic experience that complements its lyrical depth.
