Introducing the Tshego Cannabis Scholarship Launch
Cheeba Cannabis Academy is proud to announce the Tshego Cannabis Scholarship. The scholarship will fund 3 students per year to attend the academy’s flagship 12-week Cannabis Industry 101 course at their campus in Rivonia Johannesburg.
Tshego, recognised as one of South Africa’s foremost hip hop/R&B artists, boasts an illustrious career marked by performances at esteemed music industry gatherings like MIDEM in France. With his debut album ‘Pink Panther’ in 2019 earning two nominations at the South African Music Awards, Tshego has solidified his status as a standout talent. His collaborations with top-tier artists and releases through Universal Music, Def Jam Africa, Family Tree and his own independent label imprint TWENTY5EIGHT, underscore his position as one of the most dynamic figures in South African music.”
Cheeba Cannabis Academy is Africa’s leading Cannabis and hemp education company offering courses across the supply chain. Headed up by Trenton Birch, who was a leading figure in the music industry, running a creative media school with over 450 students and is also a founding member of the non-profit Bridges for Music. “Apart from being a big fan of Tshego’s music, we are excited to be working with him on this scholarship because he has a deep passion for Cannabis but is also committed to Cannabis education and responsible use”, says Trenton.
“I’ve been a Cannabis user for many years, but I believe in responsible adult use and with the rise of the Cannabis industry I thought it was important to support this education initiative which goes a long way in educating young people about the importance of consuming responsibly.” states Tshego
The 12-week Cannabis Industry 101 course is one of the most comprehensive Cannabis courses in the world and covers cultivation, medical Cannabis, Cannabusiness and sustainability and wellness. It features over 30 lecturers, 3 industry excursions and a 4-week internship.
“Cannabis and hemp have the opportunity to have a significant impact on job creation and helping with our economy and I am proud to be part of contributing to the movement” adds Tshego.
The scholarship is Tshego’s first formal step into the industry with plans to collaborate on product development with Cheeba’s Cannabis club Cheeba Delicious.
As artists begin to eye out the Cannabis industry, it is promising to see collaborations like this that underpin the importance of education, responsible use and empowering the nation to embrace this new and exciting industry.
The next in take for the Cannabis Industry 101 Course is 4 June 2024.
